Employee Spotlight: Andrew Rogoff

May 23, 2024

Lead hardware specialist Andrew Rogoff has been a part of the Sturgeon team for just about a year. But he’s been a tinkerer and tech enthusiast for far longer, building and programming computers, and participating in the Arch Linux community.

Since June 2023, he’s put that passion into practice for Sturgeon customers. He loves being part of the end-of-life process for their IT assets, whether he’s tearing down components, salvaging useful parts, or making sure decommissioned drives go out for shredding. Andrew also helps with wiping drives, and he’s even working to refresh Sturgeon’s apps and tools.

“I think my biggest accomplishment here is tearing stuff down,” Andrew says. “I like doing that. There are a lot of things I'm very proud of: my work ethic, helping to train new people, working on the website, and helping with testing.

Tear-downs may be Andrew’s favorite tasks, but he also loves building up his coworkers. A recent promotion will give him more opportunities to do just that as a trainer for new teammates.

“I’m very fun-loving. I love joking around and having a good time, and making sure others do as well,” he says.

Andrew is deeply fascinated by the ever-evolving world of technology. He exhibits an insatiable thirst for knowledge, constantly immersing himself in the latest advancements and staying abreast of cutting-edge technologies.

His dedication to staying at the forefront of innovation is evident in his regular meetings with Sturgeon's CEO, Curtis Condon, where they engage in lively discussions about emerging technologies and their potential to enhance the company's services for clients. Through these meetings, Andrew not only showcases his passion for technology but also demonstrates his commitment to delivering the most advanced solutions to meet the needs of Sturgeon's clientele.

At Sturgeon, Andrew’s found a place that values his skills and the person behind them. He is on the autism spectrum, and he’s found that everyone respects and appreciates his workplace needs, from his direct manager to Sturgeon’s CEO.

“They very much say place your mental health first, and that’s especially important for those of us on the autism spectrum,” he says. “We are human. We are just a little different. Maybe we need a little bit more care or attention, but we can work the same.”

Sturgeon is at the forefront of a movement to help people with autism thrive in the tech industry. We’re part of Cannae Human Resources Solutions’ Autism-to-Work program, which helps companies recruit people with autism and create supportive workplaces for them. While Andrew didn’t come to Sturgeon through Autism-to-Work, he has helped implement it since joining.

Going forward, Andrew intends to keep growing and having an impact at Sturgeon. Thank you, Andrew, for all that you do for us and our customers!
